| Werribee Open Range Zoo South West Boundary Shelter Plantation |
Conservation Volunteers Australia |
Werribee |
In the past this land has been used for cropping and grazing resulting in the land becoming degraded. This project includes planting vegetation along the 1.6 km boundary of Werribee Zoo which will create a weather buffer and visual screen to enhance animal enclosure space for zoo animals and visitors. Participants will be involved in activities such as planting trees, propagating seed, fencing, constructing a walking track, monitoring water quality, surveying flora and fauna and conducting community field days. |
| Wodonga Indigenous Wetland Restoration Project |
Conservation Volunteers Australia |
Wodonga |
The purpose of this project is to address both environmental and culturally significant issues within the area. The project’s aims are to not only provide employment and training for Indigenous youth but also, through community driven projects, encourage a greater interaction between Indigenous youth, parents and elders within the community. Environmental activities include: establishing an understanding of the cultural significance of native flora that resides on the Murray Oxbow Wetland site, removing woody weeds and establishing native flora populations, collecting seed and taking part in propagation activities for wetland restoration, creating an Indigenous resource garden and protecting the native riparian vegetation along the Murray River (Browns Island) by undertaking fencing and introduced species removal. |
| Biodiversity Links Out West, Bacchus Marsh |
Conservation Volunteers Australia |
