Development and Landscaping at the Northern Suburbs Community Centre |
This project aims to further develop the gardens and facilities at the Northern Suburbs Community Centre. It plans to provide an attractive meeting place for the community, create a community vegetable garden, and provide community conservation groups with support in managing land. The participants will undertake weed control and revegetation activities, construct walking trails and bridges, undertake the design and establishment of a community vegetable garden, conduct water monitoring, complete a flora and fauna survey, participate in landscaping and develop community facilities. |

The purpose of this project is to preserve the environment of the Black Gum Reserve and educate and promote the good work of the Huon Valley Environment Network in partnership with the Huon Valley Council. This project aims to improve biodiversity, inform local residents and visitors to the Mersey River Estuary about the benefits of high quality public open spaces, and build relationships with members of the Devonport City Council. Activities include construction of a walking track and signage, construction of seating, water quality monitoring, surveying of native flora and fauna, environmental education, revegetation, weed control, fencing and Indigenous cultural education. |
